Multi-Country Asia Travel Advice

Climate & Weather

Asia is the world’s biggest continent and is home to a huge variety of climates. Some countries, such as Japan, China and South Korea, experience all four seasons; whereas many tropical destinations like Thailand, Bali and the Philippines are famous for their sun-kissed dry season and lush rainy season.

From snowy mountain peaks to deserts, emerald rainforests to paradise islands, Asia has got it all! This diversity is so exciting to explore as part of a gap year, and for the best Asia trips suggestions, chat with our travel team!

Best Time to Visit

The best time to join one of our Asia trips comes down to preference more than anything, and can vary between destinations. Many travellers plan their travels around iconic seasons or festivals, such as cherry blossoms in Japan or Thailand’s Festival of Lights.

Shoulder seasons can also be an amazing time of year for travellers interested in exploring on a budget, alongside other benefits like lush nature and incredible opportunities to spot some wildlife.

Customs & Culture

On our Asia tours, you can experience a huge variety of incredible travel experiences. Asia is one of the most diverse continents in the world, and while travelling here you can experience everything from traditional homestays and ancient temples to modern cities, island-hopping and more!

Generally, some cultural customs to keep in mind are dressing modestly at religious sites and to take off your shoes before entering a building. The most important thing as a traveller is showing respect to the local community by leaving places how you found them.

Red and blue british passports

Passports & Visas

British passport holders can enter many countries in Asia without needing a visa. If a visa is required, this typically only takes a few steps and can usually be done either online or upon arrival. General passport requirements typically include that your passport has an expiry date of at least 6 months after the date that you enter a country, with enough space for stamps and visas.

Visa rules and regulations are subject to change, so we recommend staying up to date on FCDO advice before travelling to any destination. This includes any areas that you may have a layover in.

At Gap 360, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. From the moment your trip is confirmed until you arrive back home, you'll have access to a 24/7 emergency contact number for any urgent issues. For anything non-urgent, our friendly team is also available during office hours to help.

We strongly recommend checking FCDO advice for destination-specific details, as it’s regularly updated with the latest safety and travel information and you can even sign up for email alerts to stay informed of any changes. In addition, you can check the FCDO general travel advice for British nationals abroad.
