Long-term accommodation options

If you’re staying on in New Zealand to live and work, you’ll need to arrange your own accommodation after the 9-day trip is over. You’ll get lots of advice on how to find places to live during the planning sessions. Most travellers who stay in New Zealand either end up sharing an apartment with other travellers that they meet on our trips or extend their stay in a hostel. Renting tends to work out more cost-effectively, and you’ll have your own room, which may not always be the case in a hostel. However, hostels are more flexible if you’re looking to move around more, and lower rates can usually be negotiated for longer-term stays.

Meals

5 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners are included on this trip. You’ll need to cover the rest of your meals, snacks and drinks yourself. This means you’ve got the flexibility to eat where and when you like, and to try a wide variety of New Zealand’s diverse cuisine. Alternatively, you can prepare meals for yourself in the hostel kitchens if you’re on a tight budget.

Welcome to New Zealand! Meet the rest of your group tonight and head out for drinks.

Get to know Christchurch's vibrant culture and heritage sights before we make our way to Lake Tekapo. Famed for its bright waters, starry skies and snow-capped mountains in the distance, this destination will take your breath away.

We'll take a stunning hike up Mount John today, where we'll enjoy 360-degree views across the milky turquoise lake. Then, we'll pay a visit to the Tekapo Springs where we'll learn about Maori mythology while soaking our bones in the mineral-rich water - bliss! Later our team will go over everything you need to know about doing a working holiday in New Zealand and get you set up.

Today we'll drive through the magnificent Southern Alps and to arrive in the scenic lakeside town of Wanaka. Later, we're taking a hike through the valley towards unforgettable views of Aoraki/Mount Cook, the highest mountain in NZ.

We'll explore Wanaka today, with a chance to explore the lake by kayak. We will then take a hike up Mount Iron to take in the panoramic views!

Our next destination is the world's adventure capital, Queenstown! We'll take an orientation tour around this charming city, from the gorgeous waterfront to the cosmopolitan arts and dining scene.

Explore Milford Sound today, one of the most spectacular places in New Zealand (that's saying something!) Marvel at the sheer cliffs and cascading waterfalls (keep your eyes peeled for seals!).

Make a splash with our adrenaline jet boat ride. Get ready to reach a speed of 80km/h with some 360 spins! Then this evening, keep the excitement going with our farewell dinner and a final night out!

If you're planning to stay on and work in New Zealand, your adventure is only just beginning! The jobs team will help you start your job hunt and provide full support during the whole time you are in NZ!
